Data Center Expansion

AddOns is expanding our data center in 3Q of 2018! We are more than doubling the size of our server, storage and network capacity with a 100% Oracle solution. AddOns is working with partners, Lewan & Associates, Oracle, and Meta 7 to plan and deliver a successful upgrade. Once complete, AddOns customers can expect superior availability, serviceability, reliability and performance.  

Benefits of the new environment include:  

  • More flexibility for customers during maintenance windows.  
  • If ever needed, we will be able to move an entire customer environment into a secondary environment.  
  • Hardware and equipment can be worked on in the data center without having to schedule a maintenance window. 
  • AddOns will be ready for growth on a large scale. 

Customer Satisfaction Survey – Thank you for your feedback! 

Thank you to our customers who responded to our new quarterly customer satisfaction survey in 2Q and again just recently. We heard you LOUD AND CLEAR:  We need to reduce your ticket backlog and resolve tickets quicker!  As a result of your feedback and a review of AddOns’ ticketing process we are implementing new processes to:  

  • Reduce the number of people involved with ticket resolution
  • Standardize our ticket naming conventions so our team and yours will know what the ticket is at a glance
  • Ensure all communications related to a ticket go through Autotask eliminating emails which can cause confusion or lost details
  • Communicate more effectively with a new weekly interactive customer report, based on Microsoft Power BI, highlighting key metrics such as age of tickets, ticket categories and status with the ability to drill down for more detail 

We continue to work through the backlog of tickets and have a goal to significantly reduce both the volume and velocity of ticket resolution. Please continue to provide your feedback each quarter as we improve our ticketing process. Copernicus customers will be hosted in AddOns private cloud with shared hardware resources to keep costs at a minimum. The Ellipse Update Challenge

ABB Ability™ Ellipse® agile development process means Ellipse® users see new major releases twice a year, and minor releases as often as once a month. ABB is offering new functionality and staying ahead of the technology curve. How do you stay on top of the curve? New releases require testing of your configuration, interfaces, reports and personalizations, all of which are unique to your Ellipse® environment. This testing process can require weeks of testing, and the Ellipse® software and technical expertise to identify when something needs attention.

The AddOns Solution

AddOns manages the new releases for you, taking away the analysis, majority of testing time and issue discovery required to implement each new release. We use the code of all new releases to compare with previous releases and analyze the changes line by line. Our familiarity with the configurations, integrations, custom reports and personalizations in your system environment allow us to make a recommendation specific to your situation. We leverage hundreds of use cases and automatic testing technology to optimize any new release applied to your system. We also train your staff on the new features and interactions for each release to make sure your users can use the upgrades to their full potential. Your staff will have access to online training for each release in an online learning portal.

AddOns has completed upgrades to Ellipse 8.9.9 for Hecla, Tahoe, Cloud Peak, and Lighthouse Resources with all projects being on time and with the least amount of impact to the customer’s business as possible.  

Director of Managed Services, Will Miller, said, “We are excited to say that AddOns is the only company who has an automated part of the Ellipse upgrade process; a big part of that revolves around testing. AddOns has fully automated this. When the test is done, it gives the customer a report for every test done in Ellipse – which can range in the thousands. We take that manual process and eliminate it for our customers.”

Customer Highlights

Transit Authority of River City (TARC) provides regional public transportation in Louisville and Jefferson Counties in Kentucky. With over 15 million customers who ride almost 12 million miles annually, TARC services 41 routes with 230 buses.  TARC implemented Ellipse over 10 years ago, and AddOns partnered with ABB to complete an upgrade from Ellipse 5 to 8.9 in March of 2018.  TARC also transferred their infrastructure to AddOns private cloud hosting center and began an application support contract with AddOns. We are excited to have TARC as one of our newest managed services and Evergreen Services customers.  

Intrepid operates three solar evaporation mines in Wendover and Moab, Utah and Carlsbad, New Mexico. Solar evaporation ponds provide one of the safest, lowest cost, environmentally friendly production methods for potash and salt. Their southwestern locations have the advantages of proximity to western markets and an arid climate, ensuring minimal weather-related delivery days by truck or rail. 

Intrepid also operates an underground mine in Carlsbad, New Mexico for the extraction of langbeinite, the naturally-occurring mineral sold as Intrepid Trio. Langbeinite, K2Mg2(SO4)3, is a unique geological material found only in a few places in the world. Highly prized as an all-natural fertilizer with international demand, Intrepid’s mine in Carlsbad sits on one of the world’s largest known reserves of langbeinite. 

Intrepid has been an Ellipse customer for years, and recently decided to both upgrade Ellipse from 5 to 8.9 as well as migrate their infrastructure and support to AddOns. Now Intrepid is an AddOns private cloud hosting, application support and Evergreen Services customer. We are excited to have Intrepid Potash as one of our newest managed services and Evergreen Services customers. 

AddOns is growing with two brand new Ellipse customers!

Trapper Mining Incorporated (“TMI”, “Trapper”) is committed to safely delivering cost-effective energy to Craig station. It is a surface coal mine that produces nearly two million tons of coal per year. AddOns is working with new General Manager, Michael Morrissto implement AddOns Copernicus Solution, powered by ABB Ability™ Ellipse®, an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system for management of current and future Asset, Work, Materials, Finance Management. Michael is excited to implement best practice business processes and move to one integrated view of their assets, people and corporate financial data. Tacora Resources, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a mining company who acquired the Scully Mine on July 18, 2017. The Scully Mine is an Iron Ore facility is in Wabush, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada which is in the process of being re-opened.  ABB sold and implemented Ellipse Select for the few accounting folks in the office which will grow as the mine continues to hire workers and purchase equipment.  AddOns is hosting Ellipse, providing application support and Evergreen Services as well as recently assisted Tacora with acquiring Ellipse Analytics and set up Office 365 accounts.  Welcome, Tacora, as a new AddOns customerLearn more about Tacora Resources!

AddOns Announces New Strategic Partnership With COSOL

COSOL Pty Ltd (COSOL) and AddOns Inc (AddOnshave announced the signing of a strategic partnership that will allow both companies to sell each other’s products and services in their respective regions and provide a framework for collaborating globally. This presents many opportunities for both companies’ respective Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) clients and asset intensive companies with EAM systems globally.

Encouraging and supporting ethical business practices is a key purpose of the Better Business Bureau. The Torch Award is the most prestigious award the BBB can present to a business. Being a recipient indicates that the business not only believes in the high standards promoted by the BBB, but also consistently acts on them and continuously integrates them into daily practices. 

AddOns was nominated to apply for the 2018 Torch Award offered by the Denver BBB for ethical business practices and recently heard the thrilling news of our company being one of three finalists for the medium-sized business category! This will be AddOns second year as a finalist for the Torch Award. We are honored to be a part of this celebration of ethical businesses in the Denver/Boulder area and are excited to attend the ceremony in October when the winners are announced.  

Employee Spotlight: Meet Sandy Schwedt, Sr. Finance & Human Resources/Payroll Consultant! 

“I am excited to learn new tools while leveraging existing experience to bring sustainable solutions to our customers.”  

Prior to Sandy joining the AddOns Professional Services team this year, her experience includes being the Sr. Financial Analyst for Unisys, IT Finance Sr. Process Leader at Johns Manville and running her own business as a management consultant. Since starting her AddOns career, she has helped wrap up the Intrepid upgrade project and is currently working with NFTA on their Fare Collection project, and the implementation of Copernicus for Trapper Mine.  

Sandy has a M.B.A. in Finance and brings 20+ years of financial, ERP, and project management experience to AddOns. She has a vast knowledge base for many ERP/EAM systems including JD Edwards, SAP and Ellipse such as Payroll/HR/Finance functions, integrations, and interfaces.  

While Sandy is not being a financial master, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons and lap swimming.
